MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING FOR POLLUTION PREVENTION IN THE PORT.

Following the recent signing of the agreement at Ravenna’s Confindustria offices, the port pollution prevention service, which for over twenty years has been assigned to Secomar S.p.A. (the company already commissioned by the Maritime Authority to carry out the pollution prevention and remediation activities in the port of Ravenna), becomes regulated and strengthened.
In the port of Ravenna, there are numerous coastal depots of mineral oil or other liquid products, the handling of which for pollution prevention purposes is also governed by the International Marpol Convention 73/78, in addition to the Maritime Authority measures. In practice, the Companies that manage these facilities are required to take all the necessary measures in order to prevent or eliminate the polluting effects deriving from accidental hazardous substance spills.

The service is carried out around the clock– by the appropriate personnel and using the appropriate nautical vessels and equipment – to ensure the prevention of any pollution incident or imminent danger of polluting, both the Candiano canal and sea waters, caused by releases (even accidental ones), of mineral oils or other hazardous liquid substances.

The Companies, all members of Confindustria Ravenna, that have signed the agreement are:
