Today, the cruise-ship “Pacific Princess” called at the port of Ravenna, carrying 695 passengers on board. Another two cruise-ships are also expected for Friday and Sunday. It’s Ravenna’s big chance into Cruises. The Pacific Princess (looked after by Navenna Maritime Ageny) sailing from Venice, entered the port at 07:00 am yesterday morning. Its passengers are mainly American and English and can count on 377 crew members.

Many chose to visit Ravenna’s historic centre, while others availed of the organised excursions to San Marino and the automobile factories of Lamborghini and Ferrari. In the evening, the ship sailed for Dubrovnik. The “Seabourn Odyssey” which was built in June 2009 and is considered to be one of the most exclusive ships with 225 suites, 90 percent of which offer private verandas, is instead expected to call on Friday.
All suites are equipped with connections for IPod and MP3 technology. The ship which can accommodate up to 450 cruise passengers, has four restaurants and six bars in addition to a two-storey modern Spa Villa “to regenerate the body and mind with pure relaxation”.

Finally, on Sunday it will be “Crystal Serenity’s” turn to call at the port with over a thousand cruise passengers on board.
The cruise season opened on May 20th with the arrival of the “Azamara Quest” and will run until November 12th, with the return for the fifth time of the Pacific Princess. Even though the promotion work conducted by the Port Authority and the new company running the cruise terminal is yielding important results, the real boom in arrivals isn’t expected until next year with the arrival of 130.000 cruise passengers and 60.000 crew members.
