FIRE AND ANTI-POLLUTION DRILL IN THE PORT OF RAVENNA

This morning a fire and anti-pollution drill took place in the port of Ravenna, under the co-ordination of the Coast Guard. The event saw the involvement of naval and land-based units of the Coastguard, Police Force, and Finance Police, 118 Medical Emergency Support and Fire Brigade.

Also present were the port pilots, tugboat and mooring services, Secomar port anti-pollution service concessionaire and fire guards. The scenario was that relating to a fire developed aboard a cruise ship berthed along the northern quay of the new terminal at Porto Corsini during refuelling.

The drill also included, an anti-pollution simulation following a hypothetical spill in the water surrounding the berth, which Secomar personnel and equipment managed to completely recover.
